PostNord, INDIA POST AND THE VISIONARY PRIME MINISTER
Denmark is the first country post-internet generations
to pull down shutters on their postal services PostNord justifying Shakespearan
doctrine in Hamlet, “Something is modern in the state of Denmark”. The Last but
not the least Historic letter that they delivered on Dec. 30, 2025 marked four
centuries long letter-mail tradition in Denmark that we honour as Snail-mail in
our country.
90% transactions were wiped out by the year 2000
itself with cost going upto $6.84 a post !! One-third jobs to be slashed now,
thousands of home letter-boxes hanging on walls at entry gates to be unemployed
and trashed with the last letter delivered by the Last Postman Brian Rasmussen
with the serenity of a Cardinal hosting the Last Supper !! Well, well done
indeed with the changing times.
In Bharata too, same enigma confronted the newly
installed Government headed by the Prime Minister Modi in 2014. His vision
stated to transmogrify India Post into a modern delivery organisation capable
of meeting micro-chip challenges of 21st century, advancing era of
Artificial Intelligence blended with Human Stupidity. India Post was unleashed
to march towards payments banking, speed-post, delivery etc. while still
retaining legacies even if at a miniscule level. Without the visionary transformation,
India Post would have become a parasitic government body languishing to die a
slow and painful demise. Had it been left to the AO Hume founded Antonia Maino
led Congress, nation would have been witnessing all that in reality. But for
the vision of PM Modi, India Post have re-incarnated, growing and functioning
afresh. Plaudits for the Prime Ministerial vision indeed.
